Trivia Recap – Game #895 – March 29, 2026 – Sporcle Events – YpsiAlehouse – Ypsilanti, MI

My husband and I visited the YpsiAlehouse recently for some Sunday afternoon trivia, won a $10/second place gift card.

In a completely rare experience like no others in past trivia games (at least as far as I know), NO teams got the newsletter question correct – and every team put down the same answer!

The host didn’t even mention this on the mic at all, but when we saw that our points were not added, I went up to ask. She was already reading the scores by the time I went up there.

I asked what was up when she was done.

“Everyone put calcite as their answer when the answer was supposed to be limestone.”

This was the question:

“What is the name of the mineral composed of calcium carbonate and commonly used in building materials and sculpture?”

If the former host Emily were still on the job, she would have most likely just accepted the answers and added the points. This host has a different vibe and chose the “no points for any of you” route – without as much of a mention on the mic – instead.

Apparently, all of us copied the text of the newsletter question into an Internet search engine and got the same results for our answers. Which apparently, were wrong.

Taking such a strict “by the books” approach to something that is supposed to be fun? Well, I guess the players can decide where they want to play their trivia games, can’t they if they don’t like it, huh? πŸ€”

Other than this minor annoyance, we also kinda thought the animals question could have used at least one more qualifier to it to make it more clear.

Also a team next to us had a player who was playing around way too much on his phone which looked… suspicious.

Maybe we should have just stayed home that evening? πŸ˜‚

Here were our questions:

Missed #3.

Final Question Game One

Category: State Laws

Of the first ten U.S. states to legalize same-sex marriage, six are states located in the Northeast. Besides California, name one of the other three non-Northeastern states.

We moved up to third by betting nothing, Well According to Google moved up to second, and Final Four It Is moved up to first.

11 Animals – What semi-aquatic mammal from the same family as weasels and ferrets has two species, American and European, and is highly prized for its fur?

This question could have said “only two” species to make it very clear. Also give a genus and species would really nail it down. Maybe we’re just cranky because we missed it for 5? πŸ˜‚ We did put a weasel cousin whose fur was prized mostly in the past until it went nearly extinct.

12 Audio clue, don’t know enough about the song to try turning it into  “words” question.
