We recently found a decent home for one of my husband’s prior work computers in a corner of our finished basement. I had to get an old dining table out of storage, but it was worth it!

My laptop ceased being very functional years ago, so this will be a nice setup! I also have a window – it’s dirty (hey it’s a basement window, I’m not crouching underneath my deck to clean it, I need a midget window cleaner, but they are not easy to find)!
Also in my “office,” I have a stereo receiver with real wired speakers that I can hook up to either my phone or the tablet to play streaming music. Yes, my new tablet actually has a headphone jack, so I won’t need an adapter!
If I use my phone for the music streaming, no problem! I have an adapter for that.
I’m not much into Bluetooth technology. I don’t have the patience to wait for devices to decide to pair, and I will get pissy if it decides not to pair at all (I’m looking at you, my alleged “Bluetooth” portable speaker that thankfully still has a headphone jack).
I’m a typical Gen Xer – I’ll adapt to modern technology at need, and when it suits my purposes, but when it lets me down, I’ll revert back to tried and true.
It’s gonna be fantastic to be able to use the Mac to back up my photo and music libraries!
I also set up a little mirror behind the iMac to make it easier to see the USB ports! Sure, it would obviously be more convenient to put the damn things on the front of the screen, but no…Apple has to be all “aesthetic” and sh–! π
Function over aesthetics is pretty much my life – and fashion philosophy too. I remember a wise Canadian telling me years ago “You can either be fashionable or warm, but not both.” This past brutal winter, I opted for “warm” over being “fashionable.”
I’ll take function and practicality over aesthetics any day, but that pretty much goes without saying.
