Trivia Recap – Game #891 – March 16, 2026 – Corner Brewery

Isn’t it great when you hear one song that can bring back a flood of great memories? Even if you were drunk as f— when the memory occurred? ๐Ÿ˜‚

A more recent memory was someone named Kelsey celebrating a birthday recently at a recent music quiz night at Corner Brewery! A 19 person, three table team gathered to celebrate Kelsey’s birthday, and they seemed to have a great time! ๐ŸŽ‚ ๐ŸŽˆ

We don’t know you, Kelsey, but you seem to have a lot of friends and family who love you!

We tried to give them as much space for their party as they needed by moving our table back to accommodate the party attendees mingling very, nery close to our table. They must have appreciated that, because they started to quickly occupy the space we’d created by moving our table back!

So..  move the table another three feet then?

Maybe all of those distractions of seeing so many butts in our faces   threw us off our game ๐Ÿ˜‚, maybe we just didn’t get the right questions. ๐Ÿค” Maybe we needed some help?

I don’t have a whole lot more to say about this game, so I’ll share a slide with the question that reminded me of a very drunken memory from the 1990s:

We got this final q correct.

Hearing the song brought back a flood of memories! I remember in my wilder days, when I was still in my 20s (hope you all are sitting down because this is a story lol). Are you sitting? Good!

This pic is from around this time in my life

OK, this was 1997 (or within two years after that), I was about seven Molson Canadians deep, it was before noon and I had been in my car waiting in line to get into the Wheatland Music Festival (a folk/bluegrass festival in Remus, MI). I’m not saying whether I was operating said car or not ๐Ÿ˜‰ Whatever car it was, it had a CD player. Which is an important plot point.

I had been communicating via walkie talkie with my husband (no cell phones back then), who was on the festival grounds setting up our camp.

Zephram Cochrane (actor James Cromwell) in Star Trek – First Contact

When I found out exactly where he was, I was to meet him there, and made sure that a particular Steppenwolf song was blaring in the car CD player when I arrived at camp. That song was “Magic Carpet Ride,” which I had fallen in love with after hearing it prominently used in a scene in the 1996 film “Star Trek – First Contact.” It’s in the scene where Zephram Cochrane is taking a rocket ship to warp speed for the very first time and he uses it for his theme music at this historic cosmic moment. Also he’s drunk off his ass.

Every great joy ride needs theme music, right? ๐Ÿ‘

I guess I wanted it to be our theme music at that moment, too?

Isn’t it great when just hearing a sing brings back a flood of fun memories? Even if you were drunk as f—? ๐Ÿ˜‚

There are almost three months/11 weeks remaining in the Sporcle Events season, and we remain in second place in the bar standings. Globe Points scores are tight among the top three teams – Armless Chairs, Pods/Sparty On (we’re a hybrid team) and the longtime league team Don’t Forget to Strip Your Bartender.

Music quiz games are 7 pm every Monday at Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery. Maybe we’ll see some of you there! ๐Ÿ˜
