With the weather on Southeast Michigan recently warming up enough to lure me out of hibernation, I’ve recently started getting out for some more local trivia games!
A couple of weeks ago on a nice Sunday afternoon, I decided to hit up the trivia scene at the Ypsialehouse.
My team started playing here regularly when the bar opened in 2016, and a short time later, started offering trivia nights.
One of the managers at the time, Nicole; was a former bartender at Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery (aka Corner Brewery), so she knew how popular the trivia nights were there!
So…why not do trivia nights at the Alehouse, too?
Since trivia is still happening here 10 years later, it must be successful, right?
The Alehouse hasn’t been a “regular” trivia spot for my team in a while, since we can’t commit to weekend games every week.
It’s a good spot for me to escape for a bit while my husband has his weekly speakerphone chats with his mom đ
I don’t mind that he’s on the phone of course, but it’s best to give him his space during this time – and for me to have my space! Hey it beats retreating to my basement and listening to streaming radio đť
Another local trivia spot we recently revisited was Red Rock Downtown Barbecue. My husband and I went out for its trivia scene on St. Patrick’s Day, and were pleasantly surprised!
We visited the place back in December when it started offering trivia again after about a 10 year hiatus.
Long story short? Happy hour (half off) prices on draft beer during trivia games is back! đ
Most beers are about $7, so that is a good deal! Also draft cider and draft NA beer is included for happy hour.
Judging by the decent crowd that was in there for trivia, we’re not the only ones who appreciate a good drink deal during trivia games đ
That made Mike and I both happy! He likes ciders, and I haven’t been drinking alcohol for a few months now, so I’ve been drinking NA beers when I go to bars that have them.
More importantly? Mike says that’s an enticement for him to occasionally want to go there to play! Happy Mike, happy wife?
He’s not as much into trivia as I am, so I’ll take that đ
As for our regular weekly music quiz games, we’ll continue trying to either keep our second place spot or move up to first we’ve been hot and cold as of late with our successes, we usually do better the more players we have. It’s usually just three of us keeping the bench warm.
Any other trivia outings we do that week will be game day decisions.
The My Trivia Live season is winding down, with just two weeks to go. I have yet to decide whether we’ll be going “all in” for the championship tournament again this year. I have my doubts, and most likely will want to fly casual. Especially after what happened to me in late October last year with having to spend a night in a local hospital đĽ đ˘
I’ve been doing a heavy focus on my physical and mental health since this happened. I’m continuing to do well!
That doesn’t mean that we won’t test the waters! đ
Que sera, sera when it comes to trivia! Sounds better coming out of Sly and the Family Stone – they did a real soul driven take on this Doris Day classic đľđś
