I Was Tempted To Drink Last Night, But I Didn’t…

Attorney Lionel Hutz from “The Simpsons” calls David Crosby for advice while he struggles with alcohol addiction and temptation.

Last night, I was in a bar, being a good girl and drinking zero proof “hop soda.”

Then I looked at the beer board. And there it was. Staring at me with unassuming hand written letters. Asking me if it could be allowed inside me (go ahead and think dirty thoughts I totally walked into that one πŸ˜‚ ). A “Best Bitter” beer. One of my favorite styles. Easy drinking. Malty. Brown/amber. Lightly hopped.

I’ll let an AI description do the rest:

Special Bitter (or Best Bitter) is a classic British ale style, balancing bready malt with earthy hops, typically ranging from 3.8% to 4.6% ABV. It is a “sessionable” beer with an amber color and 25–40 IBUs, often featuring caramel, toffee, and fruity ester notes. It is stronger than ordinary bitter but lower in alcohol than Extra Special Bitter (ESB).

Must be my British blood that makes me love this beer style. It’s not an easy one to find in this hops-obsessed beer drinking world. What a thing it would be to be drinking one in a British Pub…right now. Especially considering all of the f—ed up things going on in our country right now!

I even thought about getting just a taster glass, but decided against it. I know how one beer can easily lead to two, and then…several.

And I don’t want that to be my life again. I’ve been sober for more than 120 days now, and I’m not falling off of any proverbial wagons, damn it! ✊

Today, we were out shopping and I bought a couple of packages of NA drinks – Nonetheless, a new NA beer from Founders Brewing Company and Thirst Mutilator from Shorts Brewing Company.

I texted a friend and said I was gonna party like it was St. Patrick’s Day at the Betty Ford Clinic!

Another friend recently bought me a six pack of Thirst Mutilator for my birthday. I really enjoyed it!

Wow if I didn’t know that this was non-alcoholic, I would think it was real beer! Has all of the taste and body of real beer. I can see drinking this around a campfire.

I have no plans to start drinking again. I’m just happy that abstinence from booze seems to be trending now!
