Trivia Plans – Week of March 9, 2026

In honor of International Women’s Day – my favorite princess! πŸ’•

We’re entering the 10th week of the Sporcle Events season and the 26th week of the My Trivia Live season. The MTL season ends in a month.

We opted not to be in league contention for MTL this current season, mainly because of the endings of the year being too busy at work for me to be able to commit to weekly games.

If we were to try qualifying for MTL finals again, it would be in a season that involves the summer months. One of my potential helpers is a teacher, and has more free time during those months.

There is a rumor that she may be retiring from teaching after this year, we’ll see if that actually happens!

Seriously though, I can go either way with MTL games. I’m content to fly casually rather than commit to weekly games. I’m also up for the thrill of a good trivia battle, too!

My husband has said that he prefers MTL games to Sporcle Events games, but he’s definitely on team “fly casual” as well.

We’re still playing the weekly music games at Corner Brewery, and we’ll plan to be there to viciously defend our second place standing πŸ’© with all of the intrepid can-do attitude of a door-to door Latter Day saint!

Anyone else see the movie The Heretic? In this one, 90s rom-com darling Hugh Grant takes kind of an evil turn as someone who entraps a couple of young door-to door LDS women in his weird creepy home where he (gasp) lectures them about religion – then proceeds to physically and psychologically torture them in a variety of ways as they struggle to find a way out of his house.

It’s a very different kind of horror film.

Not that I want any of my trivia games to resemble the plot of horror films!

It’s been a balancing act for me with this trivia routine.Β  I’ve been playing both the weekly music games – where I am definitely not among theΒ  strongest players – and also the general knowledge games – where my trivia mojo is a bit stronger. Best to never have too much of ego about your trivial pursuits, right?

In addition to trying to go out to play two trivia games a week, this year, my husband and I have revived our pandemic pastime of weekly “board game nights” in our basement. He’s more of a board game fan than a trivia game fan, so this helps satisfy his wildly imaginative (and strategic) mind! It also gives me the excuse to play some crazy streaming music while we play, so it makes for some fun nights!

Music trivia, general knowledge trivia and killing imaginary zombies while listening to the “deep cuts” station on IHeart radio? Yes please!! haha 🀣 sounds like a fun roster of weekly activities to me!
