People who look for life’s answers at the bottom of a bottle or glass of beer are certainly great fodder for songwriters!
In a recent trivia game, I had a player at a neighboring table look for trivia answers by eyeballing MY bottle of beer! 😂 The trivia question was about a beer company that uses green bottles, so at this moment, my bottle of Heineken 0.0 became a target!
We had a nice joke about it after the game.
“This beer is definitely not made in Pennsylvania,” I said to her.
Anyone else remember the Sporcle Events trivia spot in Ann Arbor called Haymaker? They had oversized Scrabble tiles with number values on them displayed on the wall. I wondered about whether that would provide players with a lifeline if a trivia question came up about Scrabble.
There were no lifelines for us in the questions we had that we completely missed – including TWO in the first round!
No prizes for us on this night.
Shout out to team “Three,” who actually played with two players instead of their usual trio – for their near perfect 70-point game (just three points away from a perfect score) – and for winning first place!
Whenever I see teams get really close to perfect games, I can’t help but wonder what questions tripped them up 🤔
I’ll make it easy for y’all to see which ones tripped us up on this night 😭
Read on to see the very, very abbreviated questions:
Round One
Ad Slogans – “Easy, breezy, beautiful” is the slogan for what company? Miss. What would we know about any of these things? 🤔😜💄
Boats – “Icon of the Seas” is the largest passenger liner for what cruise line? Clearly we did not pay enough attention to ads that the question writer for the questions watched for question inspiration, or we just didn’t happen to see them at all 🙄 double miss – not a great way to start the game.

Clothing – Lederhosen literally means “leather pants” in which language? Yay we knew a little German! 😂
Round Two
Sauces – Remoulade is from which country?
Disaster Movies – What mountain erupted into a volcano in the 2014 movie Pompeii and also in real life?
Same Name – What name is shared by both a flat bottomed boat and is also a term for aggressively moving usually followed by the word “into?” Hit for Mike thanks sweetie 🥰
Round Three
Presidential Quotes – Which president, following the passage of the Cullen Harrison Act, said “I think this would be a good time for a drink?”
Actresses – Which actress became the top grossing actress in the world in 2026 because of Avatar: Fire and Ash? Why didn’t they call it “Fire and Ice?” It would be a great excuse to get Pat Benatar involved with the soundtrack! 🎤🎶 Thanks Kim for sending me a link about this a while back! What are trivia compadres for?
Cars – What automaker produces the Boxster and Cayman? Thankfully my brain didn’t fail me here, but I think me magically remembering this – and a toys answer later on – caused me to hiccup on a world capitals question later! Maybe my brain was overworked? 😂
Halftime – Phobias
Match the following phobias to the subjects of fear.
Fears – Ophidiophobia, Glossophobia, Cynophobia, Nichtophobia
Subjects – dark, dogs, birds, snakes, public speaking, heights
We got all of these correct. Mike was the champion here. Almost made up for us blowing the first two questions!
Halftime scores:
Kitty, 26; Maddie Platters, 27; Rather Be At, 28; Starlings, 29; Pods/Spacecats, 33; Three/Never Here, 36.
Round Four

Acquisitions – What beer company founded in 1939 in Latrobe, PA famous for its signature green bottles was sold in 2006 to Anheuser-Busch? I have the movie The Deer Hunter to thank for knowing this one (whatever helps ya land on the right answer in trivia, amirite)? I don’t know why this beer stood out for me so much when I watched this movie, but that product placement must have been really super powerful! 🍺 🍻
I shared this question with a woman on my work team today who is originally from Pennsylvania – and yes she knew this answer right away!
Recent Songs – What musician released the song “Streets of Minneapolis” in 2026? Yay a “recent” song question answer that I actually know!
Toys – What toy company produced Tickle Me Elmo in 1996?
Round Five
Technology – What company released the Lisa computer in 1983? Miss. The correct answer for this was one that I crossed off in my brainstorming! 😲 🙄
Reality TV – Which NFL player had a very short career following his season one win on The Bachelorette? Nope, used our freebie answer here.

Explorers – Ponce De Leon looked for Bimini which is what is now what island group? Discussed the right answer and wrong answer here, and yup, we picked the wrong one. We always fail in explorers questions – at least this one did not involve Magellan!
Round Six
Capital Cities – what is the capital and largest city in Belarus? Don’t you just hate it when you miss a q that, on any other trivia night, you’d get correct? And where was my backup Brad – aka European capitals guru – when we needed him? 🤣 Oh yeah he doesn’t drive to games…
Page to Screen – Jackie Chan went around the world in a balloon in a 2004 film adaptation of what author’s novel?
Mascots – What predominant color is the Energizer Bunny?
Scores heading into the final:
Kitty, 48; Starlings, 53; Rather Be At, 54; Maddie Platters, 59; Pods, 61; Spacecats, 63; Never Here, 68 and Three, 70.
Final Question Category: The Internet
What popular social news website was founded in 2004 and remained popular until an unpopular redesign in 2010 caused lost users until 2025 when the site was relaunched by co founder Kevin Rose?
No teams got this and none of the top three teams wagered anything. Doozy! Standings stayed the same.
A weekend trivia game is on the calendar for us, but it will be neither Sporcle Events or My Trivia Live (how exciting, right?). More deets about this later!
As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Ryan Sutter!
