Trivia Recap – January 10, 2026 – Music Quiz – Sporcle Events – New Hudson, MI

I don’t normally do recaps of our music trivia adventures, so here goes!

I joined my trivia partner in crime Kim and her husband Brent for a bout of music trivia on a recent Saturday night. Our normal music quiz spot in Ypsilanti has canceled music quiz nights for a couple of weeks and we just HAD to get our fixes!

Please note, this will not be the typical normal question by question style recap that my six or so blog followers might be used to reading. Music Quiz games are mostly audio based, so that is the main reason for this.

The place? Becker’s Bar in New Hudson, MI.

If you don’t know where New Hudson is, that’s OK!

If you’re like me and automatically wonder if there is also an “Old Hudson” in MI somewhere, then you’re my kind of person! 🤓

Uh… New Hudson is northeast of Ann Arbor and Northwest of Detroit! I do not know about “Old Hudson,” but it either sounds like a vintage car, or an old war veteran.

New Hudson is right off I-96 between Lansing and Novi.

In January? We all take drastic measures to warm up, don’t we? More about this band in a bit! 🥶

For me, Becker’s was roughly a half hour drive almost directly north.

One of the roads that Google suggested that I take  – Currie Road (not named for Alannah Currie in the Thompson Twins, or maybe it is) was like a Foreigner song and was as “cold as ice.” Black ice, as it were! I was careful to not be too much of a lead foot, which is very, very against my nature. 😫

My granny driving allowed me to make it safely to the game, and I parked right next to a car with some snow stuck to it (must have been an employee).

Here were our game one categories:

I could have arrived late for this game, I was not much help with these!

Songs they played this round were by Olivia Rodrigo, from her “Songs to Slit Your Wrists To” album (jk) that Kim joked about, The Offspring, Flo Rida with featured artist Sia (whose singing I cannot tolerate), and the Monkees.

Aside from me helping out with a nerd point question involving the greatest Jewish rock singer ever, I was just a seat warmer this round! 😂

Oh so you think you can name a better Jewish rock singer than this guy? Fight me! 😂✊

Next up was a mystery round about songs from 2006. Kim of course knew most of these, I just spotted a song by that band that used to be called Nirvana before Kurt Cobain died. Honestly I don’t know why she invites me to music trivia games! 😂

Highlights of round  two were reminiscing about the multi-talented woman who was discovered by the Jackson family while she was a Laker Girl, who also choreographed the original Running Man movie and paid tribute to legendary choreographer Bob Fosse in her “Cold Hearted Snake” video.

Then there was this Elvis mystery round because of his would be recent birthday, it was fun seeing a lady sitting in the booth next to us singing along to the King’s songs! 🎵🎶

We were top dogs going into the final with 62 points.

Here was our final question:

We came up with the correct answer on a guess and won first place! 😁

We didn’t do quite as well in the second half, no prizes for us. Aside from some musing about the song “Goodbye Earl,” no real highlights of this game worth mentioning.

We finished in first for the night by ONE point!

We’ll be back for our regular music quiz shenanigans in the next couple of weeks. As always, Sparty On, and stay classy, Neil Diamond!
