It’s always sad when things come to an end, isn’t it? π
We played our penultimate music quiz game of the summer/fall, 2025 Sporcle Events season Monday.
We remain on top of the leaderboard after 19 weeks, which is a strong position to be when we play our bar championship game next week!
It’s been a textbook model of great teamwork – and diversity for sure!
Our team’s music powerhouse Kim is doing a majority of the “heavy lifting” on the music quiz nights without a doubt! She is especially strong in most questions about 80s and 90s pop music hits, but she also steps into genres such as R&B, rap, and (ugh) country with ease as well. Also most recent music questions, too.
My main contributions are mainly with older music genres such as “classic rock,” disco and…basically any music that Kim hasn’t been inclined to listen to during her life – which isn’t a very big area! π
I remember having big wins on final questions based on my knowledge wheelhouse over the past season. When they wanted a music artist who had an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and a Tony, I knew it was him:

When we had to put Bruce Springsteen albums in order, I was up to bat and got a home run.
When I had to remember which band with a 1985 album sold the most CDs, I remembered this band:

In our most recent game, I remembered a rap song that samples a classic rock song. I’m not revealing more details here, because those questions may still be in play this week and I’m not giving any lifelines!
A few months ago, I remembered the name of one of Depeche Mode’s founding members, who was behind the band’s early sound, which was more boppy and “new wave” than later music.
This is not to say that I’m a star on the team. I just occasionally make valuable assists!
What really makes our team great are our different walks of life and musical tastes.
We’re also occasionally helped out by Kim’s friends Amy and Evelyn and my husband Mike, who helped us get the final question in game one correct just last night! To think he was thinking about staying home!
It certainly has gotten more competitive in recent weeks for our music trivia nights! We’ll be hard pressed to stay at the top of the charts when the new season begins in 2026.
But that’s OK! The more, the merrier – and the more competitive it gets, the harder we’ll fight πͺ Trivia nights can’t survive without teams showing up to play!
