Hats Off To Great Trivia  Competition This Past Season (My Trivia Live Spring/Summer 2025)!

Sob – if only the final question in last weekend’s tournament was about Looney Tunes instead of Disney! 😭

Another My Trivia Live season is in the rear view.

I am very grateful to everyone who played on my team for semis and finals – my “definitely not a morning person” dutiful husband Mike, and the two very smart women I recruited from the longtime Sporcle Events team Sparty On named Kim and Cathy. Also Dave and Brent for occasionally helping us out during the past season.

I also wanted to give a shout out to all of the trivia teams that we battle against week after week (like Spacecats, that trio that plays under a lot of different names usually involving numbers, Dead Guys, Nope, We Were Never Here, Maddie Platters, Rather Be At, Ypsi Starlings Rugby, Pants, Titanic Swim Team, Pursuit of OSnappiness and other McShane’s teams that may pop in and out of the scene on random weeks.

Also thanks to Stacy the trivia “TJ” – who never complains about repeating questions – and helps make trivia nights at McShane’s fun!

But I’d also like to shout out especially Team “Two,” and Better Late Than Pregnant, whom are both local teams that like my team, managed to be in the top five heading into the final question in the most recent tournament.

These are teams that always force us to bring our “A” game! πŸ‘

It’s no secret that some of the best trivia teams out there play in my back yard (not literally lol)!

Some random idiots playing in a back yard

You are always “the teams to beat!”

I’m also smiling a bit for the Combat Wombats trivia team from the Flint/Burton area for finishing third!

Burton holds a special place in my heart because my mom grew up there, my grandparents lived there and I still have family living there.

What? You don’t know where Burton is? That’s OK! It’s a Flint suburb located southeast ish from Flint proper.

Their most famous landmark is BJs Bar, known for…dancing sandwiches! I do not know for sure how long it has been open, but one of my aunts worked there in the  mid 1970s. I played pinball in there when I was a kid!

I only recently found out that the Combat Wombats occasionally plays against a team featuring a woman from my childhood ‘hood! Apparently they have a competitive trivia night between their teams at Tenacity Brewing Company on Thursday nights in Burton!

Maybe someday I’ll have to check out this scene (it is a different company than MTL, for inquiring minds).

I did play against the Combat Wombats a few months ago when a friend and I invaded a Flint music trivia night at the New Jester’s.

Though I don’t know anything about the two teams that won first and second – Team Five (first place) and Quizards of Oz (second place)?

You guys rule! Nicely played…

It’s currently a question mark as to whether we’ll try qualifying for semis again this season for MTL. We’re waiting on an answer from the Magic 8 Ball.

At the moment, we’re focusing on wrapping up the Sporcle Events season, which ends in mid November. We plan to try playing the Globe Games on December (we had to miss the last ones in June because we were on vacation).

We’re currently trying to stay on top of the Monday night music quiz leaderboard at the Corner Brewery.

I don’t really have anything more to say, but we’re not going anywhere, and maybe we’ll see YOU in that next trivia battle πŸ˜‰
