Why Are The Osmonds Off My Pop Culture Radar?

I’ve heard of the Donny and Marie Mormon singing duo, but why am I just now finding out that…

There are MORE of them? 🤔

So…many…Osmonds!

Which brings me to this meme I made several years ago after realizing that comedian Flip Wilson was also completely off my pop culture radar:

The scene? A music trivia game last night. They played a “Family Group” song that turned out to be… guess who?

I don’t know if any teams got this one correct. Though I did mention The Osmonds in our brainstorming. But I was thinking only of the brother and sister Donny and Marie, not the five dudes.

Is this a little pervy, or is this just me?🤔

I did wonder aloud at the game if there were more of them.

So…let me get this straight – were they an all-white Mormon version of the Jacksons? Or were the Jacksons and African American version of them? Or did both groups put their own things down?

After hearing the clip of “One Bad Apple” by the Osmonds (the five dudes, not Donny and Marie), I’m kind of scared to listen to any more! 😨

And I thought that the Carly Simon/James Taylor duet “Mockingbird” was bad! 😂

In “One Bad Apple,” they sounded so happy, so peppy, so…coked up.

Wait…do Mormons even believe in using the “nose candy?”

Is that what the “One Bad Apple” song is about? Honestly I don’t even want to know! But I’m pretty sure that only the naughtiest Mormons snort coke!😭

I mean, I knew about the Partridge Family, the Jacksons and the Jackson 5. I’m aware of the Carpenters (they were also a brother and sister group, didn’t you know)?

I guess my parents were too hip to listen to the Osmond’s brand of…whatever it was their genre was. A little bit country? A little bit rock ‘n roll? Bubble gum pop?

Maybe I’ll have to call them to say “Thank You!”😁
