Will The Pods Go to MTL Semifinals? Or Not?

We’re waiting to see how everything shakes out with this past 22-week trivia season for the answer to that question!

Teams can use the ‘bye” week this week to make up missing scores (if they haven’t used that option already). If one of the teams we’re trying to beat uses this option, then we are most certainly…

Out! Or as a Canadian might say “Oat!”

Qualifying teams won’t be officially announced until Wednesday, September 17.

If they beat us fair and square, I won’t be too disappointed. We’ve won enough seasonal trivia battles over the years that we can make like a Taylor Swift lyric and…

“Shake it off!”

In the meantime, we’ll continue enjoying this glorious fall weather!

If we don’t end up making it this time, I’ll know that it wasn’t because we didn’t try our absolute hardest to do so! Also, I may even be able to go to my high school reunion if we don’t qualify for the tournaments.

I am definitely on the fence about going to a high school reunion! I’d only go if one of my old friends was gonna show up.

But if we do make it to semis, I’ve already requested the two Saturdays in October off. I may even have enough players without having to beg, too!

We played a music trivia game last night and though we didn’t do so hot in terms of prizes, we do remain in first place in the overall standings.

I’ve heard that Corner Brewery may start doing weekly music quiz games soon. They are only doing them every other week at the moment.

I talked to my music quiz “pardner” Kim about this, and we both agreed that we may not be able to swing weekly games. Though I’ll do my best!

Teamwork really is essential with music trivia games. Your best team is not necessarily a group of all like minded people the same age. The more diverse…the better!

While the three former sorority sisters were definitely no slouches at knowing a bulk of the answers involving music recorded within the past 30 years, they occasionally needed… my help!

I was never in a college sorority, and joke that Id never belong to any club that would have me as a member. Except…Costco. I am still thinking of getting that zip-up shacket πŸ˜‚

Had we all known each other in college, I doubt that we would have been friends. We would have lived very, very different lives, and me being three years older would make a world of difference. College students can be a bit cliquish! Growing up – and the passage of time – helps tear down those walls a bit.

While they were enjoying listening to Indigo Girls, Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors (bleah on that last one)…

I was listening to NIN, Lenny Kravitz, Enya (it was a college thing I don’t think I could listen to her now), Depeche Mode, Tori Amos, U2, Erasure and…Jesus Christ Superstar!Β  I also listened to a lot of Peter Gabriel and some Sinead O’Connor, and absolutely adoredΒ  Nirvana “Unplugged in New York.”

It wasn’t hard to think your musical tastes in college were really cool – especially if one of your roommates listened to polka πŸͺ— 😁

Now, when we all get together for these music quiz games, we manage to not only power through our differences in life experiences andΒ  musical tastes, but succeed as a result. The former sorority sisters may not be able to spot the opening sounds of or the  artist of “Mr. Roboto” or “No More Mr. Nice Guy.” But I will have to ask dumb questions like “What’s EDM?” I know what BDSMΒ  is, but EDM? I guess it’s “Electronic Dance Music.” Okay… πŸ€”

I was so happy to be correct in guessing Billie Holiday! The “Angel of Harlem πŸ˜‡ 🎡🎢”

If you’ve gotta ask what a music genre means, you’re probably not gonna know the answer! πŸ˜‚

I’ll always ALWAYS hope that when we get the category of “Adult Contemporary,” that the answer will be “Christopher Cross.” β›΅πŸ΄ 🌬️ πŸŒ™ πŸ—½ 😘 🎩 🍾 πŸ›

Who can ID three  Christopher Cross songs based on these emojis?
