There are only six more weeks to go in this very competitive My Trivia Live pub trivia season at McShane’s Pub in Ypsilanti, MI!
Honestly, I can hardly believe that we’ve made it this far. I went into this season with low expectations, and wasn’t sure how committed I wanted to be about playing weekly games.
It was a huge step for us for sure – finding a pub trivia “groove” since the pandemic hasn’t been easy for us.
I only have three other players besides my husband and I to help us at our trivia games. They don’t ever all seem to be available for the same games! Understandable – we all have busy lives outside of trivia games, don’t we? 🤔
One of those three players won’t drive to games, so scheduling games to accommodate him is a bit of a challenge! I’ve only managed to get three players tops at any given trivia game this past season.
Except that one time that we played at Original Gravity when we had four players!
Huh…I still have some unused prize money from Water Tower Distilling. But the next time I may be able to do a game there is in August.
Those games are Mondays, which compete with the every other week music quiz games I play Mondays at the Corner Brewery.
My husband Mike and I hold down the fort on trivia nights by ourselves quite often. Honestly – we’re doing quite well as a duo on most nights!
Scores wise, we’re not doing too badly either! We remain in the top three non-barhop teams in the standings. The top two at the end of the season will go to the semifinal games, and if they do well at this, will go to the end of season tournament.
McShane’s offers trivia nights on both Tuesdays and Thursdays. So far, we’ve played mostly on Thursday nights. We’ve played 11 games on Thursdays, seven games on Tuesdays and have played two “away” games at the Sawmill Saloon in Big Rapids, MI.
We’ve won $145 in prizes so far this season. That’s an average of $7.25 per trivia night (the cost of a fancy beer or cider).
After we finish this season the first week of September, I’ll want to play a lot more casually, since my work schedule is already picking up. Tuesdays look like the better nights for trivia the next couple of weeks.
The McShane’s games will likely continue next season, but maybe not every single week.
I’m actually looking forward to flying a bit more casually with trivia games this fall!!
Trying to make a run for MTL semis this season was just something I felt…”compelled” to do. A “rubber meets the road” challenge for myself, if you will 😉 See if I could do it (we’ll see)!
