Sometimes as a trivia cap’n, you need to do more than just beg your players to come out to join you at games. They may have certain needs, expectations, caveats, conditions, excuses and hang-ups keeping them from coming out to the games that you are regularly playing.

That’s when you step in and… try to bring the trivia to them! They don’t want to play in a place that requires them to get into a car and drive? Even if their previous DUI charge is WAY back in the rear view? No problem!

We tried doing that in 2024 by playing at a Sunday trivia spot that was easy for our fussy teammate to get to. But the spot just started to not work out as a regular spot for a variety of reasons. Mainly…my husband and I are not huge fans of the place!

Another close spot also didn’t work well because we just don’t have enough players to compete against the giant teams that play there regularly.

It goes on and on! My husband and I decided we didn’t like  playing regularly at a couple of other local spots (hey we can be fussy too). A place we thought would work out ended up ceasing to offer trivia nights.

So when I found out about a month ago that another local spot – Water Tower Distilling in Ypsi – I got excited!

It will not be a “regular” spot because it conflicts with music trivia nights at another spot the same night. But we’ll consider playing there at least once a month or so!

If nothing else, it will be a good excuse to catch up with our “fussy” longtime friend and  teammate! 😂

Oh yeah we also plan to play at McShane’s next week too.
