Is anyone else excited that This is Spinal Tap is getting a sequel (allegedly) released this year?

I’m just barely getting over the excitement of learning that Christopher Guest and Jamie Lee Curtis have been married since 1984! I mean, that’s an awfully long time for two celebrities to be married, right?

The only real question that I have about that is why has Curtis never appeared in one of her husband’s films 🤔?

Yeah, I know that’s none of my business!  Speaking of celebrity marriages…

We had a question in our most recent trivia game about a bombshell actress/model who was married to Kid Rock briefly. Every red blooded CIS male who probably also subscribed to Maxim magazine at some point in their lives at that game was probably all over that one, lol!

I had honestly forgotten about that!

Less exciting than celebrity marriages, how has my trivia team been doing these past few months? Lemme try to break that down!

The last time the standings were updated we were just one point away from second place out of the teams in semifinal contention (not barhop).

We’ve “mostly” been playing My Trivia Live games at McShane’s Pub in Ypsilanti and a new season started the week of April 13, 2025.

The first two weeks were rough, with us only winning a $10/second place prize at the Sawmill Saloon in Big Rapids, MI while we were out of town visiting family!

We have won $125 in prizes over the past ..I guess you could call it the second quarter if you’re into business speak? The odd number is because we played a couple of “away” games at the bar in Big Rapids called the Sawmill.

In terms of our ability to get final questions correct? Not good!  We have only gotten two correct this season. Though to be fair…

MTL questions are notoriously rough! There is even a running joke among the teams about it being all about the final questions!

One of the final questions we got correct was about which company was the first to show a woman wearing only a bra in a TV ad. Recently, we got a final question correct about which former stand-up comic appeared with Phil Hartman in a sitcom, hosted a reality show and endorsed Bernie Sanders in 2020?

I think maybe we also got one correct about the Big Mac Index, but maybe that was last season? 🤔

I always like any excuse to remember the late…the great – Phil Hartman! In fact, after we got home from that game, we watched the 1996 remake of Sgt. Bilko, in which Hartman appeared with Steve Martin (who played the title role). Yes this movie was sort of panned and it bombed, but as a fan of both Martin and Hartman, I think the movie is great (fight me). Dan Aykroyd is also in it!

We’re doing OK at McShane’s, so we’ll continue with our “one game at a time” plan until we don’t! I don’t know if we’ll make it to the finish line in early September, but 8we have improved greatly over the past few weeks!

The occasional Sporcle Events music quiz games are likely to continue, and we do plan to hit up a new Sporcle spot in Ypsi next week. I’m doing this because of a player who won’t play anything but trivia games he can ride his bike out to play! I try to be accommodating, but Cthulhu help me – I do NOT like driving players to non-tournament games!

I hearing that MTL may be starting a local music quiz show in late July! My music pardner Kim is really excited about it and already tagged me in a FB post about it 😂 I’m game for that! 👍 🎵 🎶

So next week, we’ll try out the Water Tower Distilling joint in Ypsi, and also do a McShane’s game. Then it’s off to visit the mother-in-law for the weekend of July 4! 🎇🎆

Maybe I’ll luck out and see topless people going down the Muskegon River! My father in law did a frantic run for his binoculars shortly after moving there after he spotted a woman doing just that! Oh those stories you only hear after someone has passed away  😂

I hope everyone has a nice holiday, even if you don’t see any topless boaters – and everything is getting downright frightening in our country right now….
