It doesn’t take much to to send me down a trivia rabbit hole!
A friend told me that she had an audio question in a music trivia game and had to name the artist. When she said the song was “You Can Leave Your Hat On,” my first guess for the artist was Ton Jones. Had I actually heard the singer I likely would have recognized it as being Joe Cocker.
Both artists recorded their own versions of the song – Jones’ version was used in The Full Monty. Cocker’s version was used in the 1986 film 9 and a 1/2 Weeks
Huh…I remember that movie and probably saw it once, but let’s refresh my memory by reading the Wikipedia synopsis, shall we? 🤔
Let’s see – BDSM, sex games, mind control emotional control, cross dressing, stalking behavior and sex, sex, and more sex. There is an “unedited” version out there that was not released in theaters. It had to heavily edited before the studio would release it.
Even the leading man’s character has the last name of Grey in the film!
I thought that the plot synopsis in Wikipedia made it sound an awful lot like 50 Shades of Grey. Even the real life tension between the lead actors of both films. I totally get it. I’ve read that Mickey Rourke didn’t bathe often. That would make me testy too if I were Kim Basinger and had to do a sex scene with him too!
It’s not a “woke” movie by anyone’s standards – if you’re looking for a female empowerment piece, why not watch Wonder Woman instead? Not WW84 though (that was awful).
