MLive recently published an update on the Isle Royale deaths investigation stating that it was a murder-suicide involving a father and son. It may be a paywall article for some readers, so I’m not sharing that link here.

The gist of it is that still no names or cities of residence have been published as of yet.

A medical examiner’s office in Milwaukee is conducting the autopsies.

It’s really the saddest outcome one could imagine. Two different camping parties apparently heard the commotion between the two and hiked 11 miles – in the dead of night – to get away – and to fetch rangers. Hiking with gear (if they even bothered to pack it up) – over rough terrain in the middle of the night is no joke!

Knowing that these were the circumstances is tragic beyond belief. I can’t even imagine the pain this must be causing to the family and other loved ones 😢
