Wedding Anniversary Lunch!

Went to Karl’s Cabin near Plymouth, MI today for our wedding anniversary today. The menu’s vegan option looked good to both of us, so we both got it!

Behold mushroom Wellington, which was a portabella mushroom wrapped in puff pastry and served with duxelles (pronounced dyksel). What’s duxelles, you ask (besides delicious)? It’s a mince of mushrooms, onions, herbs (such as thyme or parsley), and black pepper, sautΓ©ed in butter and reduced to a paste.

Now you know something more for trivia night!

It’s always a rarity when I order something at a restaurant that isn’t typically served with fries πŸŸπŸ˜†or isn’t a chicken sammie.

I don’t usually go for the vegan option, but this is definitely the place to try the vegan option! Whether it’s for health reasons, wanting to have something in common with Arnold Schwarzenegger, avoidance of eating something that had a face, or maybe just a desire to impress that hot vegan person you’re on a date with, give a vegan dish a try if it looks good! But do not…do not ever try vegan “cheese!” Better to avoid the cheese altogether than settle for the fake non melting version of it!

Trust me on this one! πŸ˜‰
