All right then! π

He did like fine clothing, but that wouldn’t make him gay. Arthur was married, and his wife was one of the prettier first ladies. https://wordpress.com/reader/blogs/24415709/posts/32686
Being married does not preclude someone being gay. Marriages for convenience have been going on for millennia. Arthur’s pretty first lady could very well have been his “beard.” Presidents who were gay before the 1990s when celebrities slowly started coming out would have definitely kept it hush-hush. It’s hardly fair to cast assumptions about the sexual preferences of the dead, I agree.
There is also no reason to believe that Arthur was gay outside of him liking fine clothing and being well dressed. Is every man that dresses well gay? Certainly not. It seems to be a trend to paint quite a few presidents from the past as gay without any real proof. Even a womanizer like JFK has been called gay by some. Lincoln was called gay because his wife was unattractive, even though Lincoln himself was unattractive too.
Yeah I totally agree but you’ll have to take this up with Netflix! That “liking the company of gentlemen” comment though π
