My Most Recent Song Additions Are…All Over the Place 🎵🎶 😅

I haven’t added any “new to me” songs to my music collection since I updated my Halloween playlist in 2024.

I recently made a  playlist for my car that is called simply “2025.” There are 12 songs on it, and they span the decades  and the genres!

Without further ado, here are the “new” songs:

From the 1970s:

Iron Man, Black Sabbath (metal) – simply one of the best rock songs of all time!

It’s Too Late, Carole King (easy listening) – she has such a unique vocal style that is hard to emulate!

Simple Man, Lynyrd Skynyrd (southern rock). Fight me – I LOVE a good Skynyrd track! And this one is borderline metal with the 🎸 shreds!

You’re No Good, Linda Ronstadt (bluesy pop). Five octave range, what more can I say about this lady? Need to get the Van Halen version too!

Rich Girl and Sara Smile, Hall and Oates. Just damn good blue-eyed soul that goes down smooth…

From the 1980s:

America, Neil Diamond (soundtrack/rock). A song that certain government officials working now would absolutely HATE to hear! Pure nostalgia ride, my mom took my brother and I to see this awful, awful movie in theaters!

Turn to You, The Go-Gos, (new wave/pop). I need more Go-Gos, it’s great driving music!!

Rise, Public Image Limited, (alternative rock). This band “rose” from the ashes of the Sex Pistols with the former Johnny Rotten now using his birth name John Lydon. The punk energy is still alive, and as the song states, “Anger is an Energy.” Yes it is…yes it is!

From the 1990s:

Night and Day (steel string remix),  U2. Cover of the Cole Porter song. Cole Porter was a composer AND lyricist (double threat)!

From the 2010s:

Cumberland Gap, David Rawlings (folk rock). Sounds like it should be a 1970s song, has Fleetwood Mac vibes.

From the 2020s (yes really this is actually my playlist):

Too Sweet, Hozier. Did I already mention that I like blue-eyed soul? I may not like my whiskey neat (I prefer mine with club soda and ice), but I like the message of this song!
