March, 2025 Trivia Update…

My trivia team is a decidedly finicky bunch! One of our players doesn’t like driving to trivia games and we don’t like being a taxi service, which limits where he’ll play. A longtime trivia spot very close to home isn’t ideal for a few of us because of a variety of things, two of us dislike paid city parking, yada yada yada…

During the month of March, we focused our trivial pursuits on McShane’s Pub in Ypsilanti and played there twice so far, winning one $30 prize. We’ll play there at least one (maybe two more times) during March. We don’t need an army of players to do well in MTL games, as opposed to some Sporcle Events games, where I like to have at least 3-4 players (depending upon how competitive the spot is). We do just fine with a minimum of two players in MTL games!

At least a couple of our players – including a semi-regular loaner from another team – like playing at Original Gravity, which offers outdoor games when the weather allows. So that is a place I’ll consider in warmer months!

We’ll play our first Sporcle Events game since February this coming Sunday since I have the day off. I have been working most Sundays. Our player who doesn’t like driving to games can walk or ride his bike here!

I don’t have any plans at the moment to try dominating any one trivia spot for tournament qualifying purposes. I already know that we’ll be out of town when the Sporcle Events Globe Games happen in June (my husband gets Juneteenth as a paid holiday at work).

If my schedule allows and I feel like it, I won’t rule out sitting in with another MTL team who may need a hired gun in the upcoming finals tournament in May.

As of now, the “solo” game is still a go for next week! Trivia without a parachute – what could be more exciting?
