Trivia Plans This Week (December 1-7, 2024)

We have two competitive trivia to-dos on the calendar for this coming weekend of Saturday, December 7-8. We have a My Trivia Live semifinal game Saturday, December 7, and a Sporcle Events Globe Game Sunday, December 8.

If we make it out of the semifinal on Saturday among the top teams, we’ll have a spot in the finals Saturday, December 14. Since our trivia spot in MTL has since dried up with no signs of opening back up, this may be our only chance to play in their league championships for a while. Unless I happen to get a spot on another team (which has happened in the past). Hell, I might even be able to sit with a team at finals even if my team doesn’t qualify, but I’m pretty sure my husband would rather have a Sunday to spend with me (for a change)! I have been working lots of Sundays 😔

As for this week, we’ve decided to take a break from trivia games at Corner Brewery, after having played two consecutive weeks. We’re both still pretty upset about having been asked to move to a different table after having chosen a subprime table – and arriving 45 minutes early. We don’t think it’s fair that a large group arriving last minute were allowed to take our table. They had too many players for one table, yet two tables (separate from each other) were available. The host asked them to play as separate teams anyway, so it was not necessary to ask us to move.

It does kind of suck that the trivia spot closest to our home has become so unwelcoming to us on trivia nights. Honestly – what is the point of arriving early to get a table if that table isn’t guaranteed to be ours?

A friend suggested we bring in our own chairs and place them wherever we like!

From the buzz that I’m hearing, I don’t think things will improve here for us with the new host taking over starting next Wednesday. Oh well, I guess – there are other spots to get our trivia fix, right?

About that…We’ll be – or maybe just me – will be hitting up a MTL show this week. Since we’ll (allegedly, barring any calamities) playing a MTL semifinal on Saturday, it only makes sense for us to play at one of the MTL spots in the days leading up to that. We might play a virtual Sporcle Events game as well. My husband really likes the virtual games anyway, and it might be a way to get one of some other players in the mix too – ones whom are difficult – or impossible – to meet up with at live hosted games.

What better way to be guaranteed the absolute best seats in the house than a virtual trivia game? 😉
