Trivia Happening Again…Soon!

A wedding reception 10 hours away, a Halloween cabin trip and taking time to prepare for, travel to and…in the case of the wedding – recover from (more about that in a bit)… When is a gal supposed to have time to get her pub trivia fix?

My husband and I “almost” hit up a trivia game last week, but weather turned out to be too good, so we had a Halloween campfire instead.

I didn’t build this campfire, but I did take the reins for the job on another night!

A 10 hour road trip one way is rough enough. It’s rougher still when crammed into the back seats of a Buick where the driving was shared by a pair whose bickering and mind games would put the Bundys to shame. Not to mention erratic driving and road rage to boot! 😩

So the Halloween weekend cabin trip was a wonderful way to recover from all of that madness! I was very happy to have been able to see the new bride and groom! But maybe next time we take our own car and adhere to our own schedules!

While staying in the cabin, I carved two pumpkins, completed a 2.5 mile hike by myself, and built a campfire by myself! My fire master slash husband supervised me, but I set it up and lit it on my own!

I used two fire starters (one homemade firestarter fashioned from newspaper and wax), the other a petroleum based cube firestarter you can buy at Cabela’s.

I buy a pack of these every couple of years or so. They work great in even challenging fire building conditions and you can buy online from Cabela’s or Bass Pro Shops (one of the companies owns the other). I live near a Cabela’s and order online and pick up curbside. Who wants to wait in line or navigate a giant touristy store to get one item? Not this girl!

Amazon does not sell this exact product though they do have something similar.

Success! He said that his student had surpassed the master!

I have a trivia night planned in the next couple of days. It will be good to be back in “that” saddle again!

This hat is 30 years old now! How many of you still wear things you wore in college?
