So…What’s Up With My Trivia Team, Anyway?

Since mid June, my trivia team has played five Sporcle Events live games, two Sporcle Events virtual games six My Trivia Live games, one Sporcle Events globe game and one MTL semifinals/finals. At this rate, we’re not on track to qualify for any cash prize games. If we play five minimum games at any one Sporcle spot, we have a chance, even if it’s not great.

It’s a far cry from how we’ve been in the past! For years, I looked into how best to make sure that my trivia team can play to their highest potential for tournaments, prizes, etc. Whether that meant picking the best spot/trivia night for my team, playing in multiple spots, barhop, playing in a newly added late season spot- I did it all!

Honestly though, this year has just been so crazy and challenging for a variety of reasons. It’s been difficult finding time, players, etc. I love being in the competitive throes of pub trivia, but with me working later shifts at work and having more demands on my time, finding good evenings for trivia has been a challenge. Just when I thought I’d found another Sunday trivia spot, the bar we were playing in decided to call off those games, and I started being scheduled to work on more Sundays. It’s always something!

I do want to give a shout out to a newer trivia team on the block making my heart smile – Twinkle Toes, whom have been playing fairly regularly at Arbor Brewing Company in Ypsilanti since May. They are currently the team to beat at this very popular trivia spot. Go them! Way to shake up the status quo, keep on truckin’ you have a sizeable lead and could very well be the next bar champions! You have officially become the “team to beat!”

I’ve played at this trivia spot since it started offering trivia in 2012, though not as regularly as I’ve used to. I know who most of the heavy hitters are at this bar, and I couldn’t be happier to see a new set of heavy hitters kicking ass and taking names!
