No answers for these…incomplete recap
Dear diary:
Wednesday night, I got kicked out of a trivia game not only once, but twice! The first time I snuck back in after providing a false identity, but when I got kicked out the second time, I couldn’t get back in again.
Yes, everything I just said is true! No, it wasn’t as exciting as me getting kicked out of a trivia game by knocking over a table and saying this quote (which did not actually happen) :
Nope, I was virtually kicked out of the game twice because of my damn phone. I SWEAR that I’m not smart enough to have a “smart phone!” It tries to video and voice call people without my direction, I’m shitty at typing things on the virtual keyboard, it malfunctions when I’m trying to submit answers in trivia games, honestly everything was so much simpler with my old flip phone that I could tell people was a “burner” because of my illegal dealings (lol)!
As a result of my phone farting out during the game, I only managed to accumulate 29 points for two games Wednesday at Arbor Brewing Company Microbrewery (aka Corner Brewery). Strangely enough, it wasn’t last place! On a bright note, the questions I was not able to answer I probably would’ve flunked anyway. Except someone told me there was a Daria question? Damn it, they asked that one after I’d given up on the game and retreated to the bar area! Figures!

In other happy news, I got the sports question correct in game two! Yes, really!
This was my first solo trivia outing since 2019, and boy did I miss my right hand man slash husband Mike who always handles the submission of answers during games! He has the same exact “smart phone” that I have, and aside from minor glitches here and there, he’s never gotten us kicked out of trivia games. Malfunctioning wifi got us booted from a couple of virtual games, but that was it. Honestly I don’t know what happened – was it because I used an incognito window for the game? On my old tablet, it didn’t work right UNLESS I did that! Was it because I checked text messages between question answering? God it’s pretty obvious from my terrible score that I didn’t cheat!I switched off the wifi and used a mobile network, so no, it wasn’t that.
Here were the questions I was able to get from the game, I do not have them all:
Round One
1 Ingredients – What key ingredient in eggs Benedict, made from egg yolks, butter, lemon juice and seasonings has a name that means “Dutch sauce?” Hit.
2 Companies – Name one of the two words that were combined to create the name Intel, after the company was founded in 1968?
NERD POINT: Name both words.
Nope, not only am I not smart enough to have a smart phone, I wasn’t smart enough to know this, either…miss.
3 Movie Roles – Janet Gaynor, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand and Lady Gaga have all played lead roles in different films with what title? Hit.
4 Swimming – As of June, 2024, what swimmer holds 29 of the 30 fastest times in the women’s 800-meter freestyle event? Miss.
Mystery Round One – F on TV
Name the TV series with a title that starts with “F” based on the years it originally aired and a selection of characters.
M1 2016-2020 – D.J., Stephanie, Jackson, Max and Kimmy
M2 2008-2013 – Olivia, Peter, Walter and Astrid
M3 1998-2002 – Ben, Julie, Elena and Noel, in addition to the title character
M4 1989-1998 – Carl, Henrietta, Eddie, Laura and Steve
I got #4 correct. That was it. And didn’t I read something earlier about how there used to be another kid on this show but she just kind of disappeared and they stopped talking about her later? Man, that’s some cold ass stuff!
5 I was kicked out of game here did not get this question down…category was “peace.”
6 2024 Albums – What studio album, released by Charli XCX in June 2024, gained international attention after its lime green and Arial font cover was adopted by the Kamala Harris campaign? Still booted out of game, had to leave and sign back in under another name.. I only had 17 points up until this point. Even after signing in under a non league team name I would get zero points after this.
7 Oceans – The portion of the Indian Ocean that separates Madagascar from the mainland of Africa is a channel named for what country on the coast? Picked wrong coastal country, miss.
8 Scientists- Due to his formalizing the modern system for naming Organisms, Swedish scientist Carl Linnaeus is known as the father of modern what?
Miss. Didn’t have right scientific word.
Mystery Four
Also a cosmetics brand- The correct answer to each clue is also the name of a cosmetics fashion brand
M1 Bird in the family Columbidae, along with the pigeon
M2 Did not get this down
M3 Last word in the title of a 2009 biopic starring Audrey Tautou
M4 Did not get this down
Nope, I didn’t know any of these. So because I got kicked out after scoring the ONLY points I would get this game…zero points going into the final for me! I had no choice but to wager zero on the final category of…
Actresses
You know it’s going to be awful when they ask a question about a person and you’re like:
Who dat?
There are four films starring Zendaya that grossed more than $50 million at the U.S. box office and are NOT installments in the Spider-Man or Dune franchises. Name two of those films.
I had nobody to help me with this, but I honestly thought Zendaya was a character in the Batman universe! Well, close anyway, Zatanna. I have Batman on my mind a lot lately because of the new Caped Crusader series on Prime dropping today! Waiting for Mike to finish work so we can watch!
Yeah miss. But I didn’t lose any of my zero points and go to negative integers!
Game Two/Round Three
9 Pilots – A fighter pilot who takes a defensive position behind and to one side of a squadron mate is known by what term, which can also be applied to a friend who assists another with romantic relationships? Hit.
10 1980s Movies- (Audio). Yeah it’s an audio question? What do you want me to do imitate the actor laughing in the clip from a 1986 movie? I could not hear that well at all, had to burn a low point wager here. You know I’m having a bad trivia night when I can’t even get a question about 80s movies that I know! 😦 not only could I not hear this clip well, but I honestly don’t think that I could understand ANYTHING that the host said on the mic. Good thing the questions were presented visually! The acoustics in the “lounge” room at Corner can be really horrible, ugh. Wish this question didn’t have to be audio 😦
11 Constitution- Article 1, Section 3, of the U.S. Constitution divides sitting senators into three classes, for what purpose? Miss.
12 Expansion – Within one, in what year did the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Tampa Bay Rays play their first games as MLB expansion teams?
Hit! Yes really, I guessed this on the dot. Not for big points (of course).
And thus ends what I have of the questions, I was booted out again and couldn’t submit the one answer I knew for this mystery round (though to be honest I did not get much chance to look at any of these) – or even get in under another name. I did peek at another mystery round later that I likely would not have known any answers for, and saw that the final was about..
Primetime Emmy Awards (yikes)! When I walked into the lounge from the bar area to see the final question and saw that it was about Primetime Emmy Awards? I burst into a bit of insane laughter…Guess I didn’t miss any potential points!
I’ll try my best to not get booted out of any more trivia games! Virtually or in person!
Our next trivia outing will be the My Trivia Live semifinals Saturday at McShane’s Pub. I am hopeful we might advance to finals, but not TOO hopeful! It has been a minute, we are still rusty in that league and shaking off lots of cobwebs.
As always, Go Pods and stay classy, the producers of Family Matters! What exactly did you do to Judy? Was Urkel involved? Did he do that?
