You’ll never forget “the first time,” will you? Whether it’s your first day of kindergarten, your first speeding ticket, your first (and possibly also last) corn dog you ever ate, your first illegal and legal drink, the first time you and your trivia team won actual cash money at a trivia tournament (behold this photo from November 2013)… Technically, the first time my team won tournament money was about a year earlier, but I was on a sledding hill in the U.P. at the time and used a couple of “stunt doubles” to take the place of my husband and I.
Did you think I was going to mention the first time I had…sex? Tsk, tsk, shame on you! 😉Although I will say that the ingesting of illegal ( as in underage) drinks was involved! Did you know that Mitsubishi made kamikaze planes? Why do I mention kamikaze planes? Because they’re also cocktails!
Sunday will NOT be a “first time” kind of day! Though it will be the first time we’ll make an attempt to win a bar trivia championship since the long, long ago (my phrase for before the 2020 global pandemic). It’s also a Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome reference (my nerdy husband said to be very specific and not just say Mad Max). Done and done! That was one hell of a powerful movie role for an actress in the 1980s, only Sigourney Weaver as Ripley in the Alien franchise would have a role to rival it (but that’s another blog topic altogether).

I don’t think our chances are good to finish as top dogs are good, but we may have a shot at finishing in the top 3 for the season! Had we played more regularly at the beginning of the season, we’d probably already be in the top 3 (life happens, and sometimes causes trivia to not happen).
All we can do is play our best on Sunday, and we’ll go from there, maybe even play in one of the “Globe Games” offering cash prizes. Now that the season is winding down, though, I’m looking forward to occasionally doing other things – besides trivia on Sunday evenings! Like meeting with my high school bestie for lunch at a dying mall in Burton, MI! 🌮🌯
