Trivia Game # 800 Is Looming! Will We Have a Celebration?

We have just one more trivia game to play before we hit #800! It sounds more exciting than it is…

That number is likely closer to 1,000 if you count the games we played in both the Sporcle Live league and My Trivia Live leagues. We began playing Sporcle Live games regularly in 2012, and MTL games in 2016. We have not been out for more than one MTL game since before the pandemic. And honestly, I should have stayed home the night we did go out for that game! I was not yet ready for “prime time” yet (that’s all I’m gonna say for now).

Truth be told, I am hard-pressed to even find extra helpers for our final venue tournament game November 19! I’ve asked several people, and am not having any luck. Even when I try doing virtual games, everyone seems too busy. It’s the weekend before Thanksgiving, after all.

I get it, life happens.

More truth to be told, I am happy we have our “Three Amigos” for the Sunday evening games. I’m also happy to have more players when we can get ’em.

Mike, Brad and myself have been the most consistent regular trivia players on our team over the past decade (give or take). Do we cover all of the knowledge bases? No! Do we work well as a team? Mostly! Are our trivia nights profanity free?

Nope, we’re not perfect, not always perfectly behaved or dressed and we certainly f— up a lot of trivia question answers. But we all genuinely like each other, we are friends outside of trivia games and we laugh at each other’s bad jokes. One of our other semi- regulars, Dave – is someone we’ve known for more than a couple of decades. I’ll never forget when we teamed up trying to remember Parker Posey name in a trivia game (I knew she was in O in Ohio he remembered her name).

Prize (back in the day) for winning first in a MTL tourney? 2,500 bucks. Prize for winning first at YpsiAlehouse? Twenty bucks. Prize for having two (sometimes more) trivia homies you love as much as family with you on trivia nights making you laugh – and helping pry trivia tidbits from the brain? Priceless.

So will we have a big to-do for our 800th game? Probably not. 😐 These days I’m happy to be able to get my trivia fix when I can – and happy to have whomever can be f—ed to join us when I can! I’m also excited whenever we can manage to win prizes, though those are just icing on the cake.

Here’s how I feel about my unpolished, imperfect, immature ragtag trivia team:
