TIL that Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of late Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain, has married Riley Hawk, the son of skateboarder Tony Hawk. And REM frontman Michael Stipe officiated their ceremony. This is a second marriage for her.

in addition to feeling very, very uncool right now (lol), I can only imagine how the staff at TMZ must be mobilizing for news coverage supremacy. If they have a baby, they’ll absolutely lose their minds!

I remember what a big deal it was when Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love welcomed Frances Bean into the world. And of course there were allegations that Courtney was using heroin during her pregnancy. There is hardly a Gen Xer who can say they don’t remember Kurt Cobain’ death. I was in college and living off campus in Mount Pleasant at the time. I can’t say I was completely shocked by the news, but later, listening to Nirvana Unplugged in New York album would be a fitting tribute for the troubled young man.

Around the time of Cobain’s death in 1994, I looked like this:

I hear that a recent trivia question asked players which of the top 10 hits from the Nirvana album Nevermind was also a track on Unplugged (I did not play this game).

I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t be completely star struck if I had a chance to meet Frances Bean! I’ve read that she not only resembles her late father in appearance, but his former band mates have said that even her mannerisms are like her daddy’s – so much so that it’s almost…haunting.

Despite her more than ample inheritance and not having to worry about money, I can imagine that her life in the public eye has been a challenge, not to mention growing up without a dad and her well-documented emancipation issues with her mother.
