Trivia Recap – Game # 781 – July 16, 2023 – Live Game – YpsiAlehouse (Ypsilanti, MI)

Sorry, no answers for this one…

If we managed to finish in fourth place overall after only getting 12 correct mystery round points out of 32 and wagering zero on the final question in game two (which of course we knew the answer)? Well, that tells me that other teams may have been a little roughed up, too! Even though one player on our team actually watched the film Hedwig and the Angry Inch years ago, he still couldn’t identify a still from its stage production shown to us in a LGBTQ themed mystery round! Wasn’t Pride Month last month? Nope, we weren’t too “proud” of how we did in that mystery round! Out of desperation, we put down “Rent” for two of our guesses! Maybe we need to try to be more gay or gay aware?

Here were the questions, which may be abbreviated:

Round One –

1 Logos – How many rings are linked in Audi’s logo?

2 Actresses – Which actress won a Golden Globe for her performance in Some Like it Hot?

3 Soccer – Name one of two countries that have hosted the Women’s FIFA World Cup on multiple occasions. Name both for a bonus point. Missed the bonus.

4 Board Games – In 2016, Hasbro announced that Dr. Orchid would be added as a new Clue game character, replacing which other character often presented as a housekeeper? FB clue.

Mystery Round One – Absent WΓ¬ithout Steve, see below pic:

We missed #2.

Round Two –

5 LIterary Characters – What book by Lois Lowry is the first in a quartet of books with titles including Gathering Blue, Messenger and Son? Miss. Spoiler, this won’t be a good round for us 😦

6 TV Characters – Who starred as the title character in Mr. Robot, which aired from 2015 to 2019? Miss.

7 US Geography – What two US states are the southernmost states NOT bordering an ocean? Miss.

8 Slogans – What three word phrase most commonly used in Great Britain is a warning to people stepping off a train car? This was also the name of one of the trivia teams that used to play at Original Gravity. Sadly, OG stopped offering trivia nights after the pandemic. My husband recently said he kind of misses playing there, though I reminded him that he wasn’t a big fan of its trivia nights! Hey, spouses don’t have to agree on everything! 🀣

Yay we got one question right in the round! Maybe we can make up some points in the mystery round! Nope, nope we won’t!

Mystery Round Two – Visual

We only got #3 correct. Clearly, LGBTQ musicals isn’t a strong category for us! Maybe we’d be better at film?

We were in fifth going into the final with 37 points. We went all in on the category of presidents:

Name two of the three century US presidents who were in office at the time a new state joined the Union in the 20th Century.

We could’ve named all three, our efforts only put in the very non prizes zone of third πŸ™

Round Three –

9 Animals – What geographic name is often assigned to tigers living in NE China and the far Eastern reaches of Russia?

10 Sequels – What is the two-word subtitle for the third film in the High School Musical franchise? Got it on a guess go us for not totally flunking out of school on musicals questions!

11 Cars – Despite not having been produced since 1927, what is the highest selling car of all time in the US?

12 60s Music – In 1962, what band released its debut studio album titled Sherry and Eleven Others, which produced two #1 singles, including the track mentioned in the title? Name the other # song for a bonus point. I dedicated this question to my dad, who is a fan of this band!

Mystery Round Three – see pic below:

Missed 3 and 4.

Round Four –

13 NFL Firsts – In 1948, what current NFL team was the first to have a logo on its helmet? Miss.

14 Disorders – Abbreviated RLS, what neurological disorder is characterized by the irresistible urge to move one’s lower limbs? Did actor/dancer Ray Bolger have this disorder?

15 90s TV – We had an audio clue of the theme song for a ABC series airing from 1990-91 in its original run which starred Kyle McLachlan and Michael Ontkean.

16 Words – What French derived word roughly translates to “cover the fire” and refers to people no longer allowed out in public? Miss.

Mystery Round Four –

Of the following list of seas, place them in order from largest to smallest- Red, Japan, Mediterranean, North.

Complete fail…this round SUNK us!

We were in fourth going into the final with 44 points. For some reason, our team’s most knowledgeable Olympics person wanted to wager zero on the topic of Winter Olympics. Huh? So we did…

Four countries have won multiple medals in both men’s and women’s ice hockey, name all four countries, none of which is Russia.

I’m not totally sure if we had to name 3 or 4 countries. Moot point, we wagered zero.

As always, Go Pods, and stay classy Laura Palmer!
