So I’ve Been Unfriended For Enjoying Fireworks!

Oh the curiosities of the not so social media! Last night, I had the audacity to post – while acknowledging that the post might be controversial for some – that I was enjoying hearing fireworks being set off by my house. The reason being that when people sett off fireworks, it usually is for celebratory reasons. I’ve been experiencing some higher than average stress the past couple of weeks after getting the news about my husband losing his job.

I KNEW that one of my FB friends would chime in about how she hates fireworks because she has dogs. Why? Because she does the same damn thing EVERY time I post about fireworks. And frankly, it was getting tiresome. Seriously, how difficult is it to simply scroll past a post you don’t agree with – and refrain from commenting?

Apparently too difficult for this bitch! She was summarily put down by fellow commenters, one of whom pointed out that I clearly stated that some folks might not enjoy fireworks, so why was she being so nasty?

Another commenter was a longtime friend who has owned dozens of dogs the same breed as hers – and all of those dogs over the years have never shown any anxiety about fireworks or similar loud things. Could it be that dogs can be – I dunno – trained – to not freak out about fireworks and other loud things? Hmmmm… Years ago, my parents had a cat who, when they first took him in, would always retreat to the basement and hide under a shelfing unit whenever there was a thunderstorm. Eventually, he stopped doing that. Hell, if a cat can be trained away from a behavior, then so can a dog. Now if we could only train humans to behave on social media outlets (LOL)

I decided to take down the post completely and proceed to unfriend this person. But wait – shee already did it for me!

If she tries to refriend me later, I’ll be all like Wayne in Letterkenny:
