Trivia Recap – Game # 776 – June 27, 2023 – Virtual Sporcle “Pub Quiz” Format

I’ve been pretty busy the past few days, so I don’t remember anything noteworthy about this game! But I’ll do my best…here goes:

Round One

1 Fast Food – In 1952, George W. Church Sr. founded a restaurant in San Antonio, Texas, that most notably specializes in what food, per its name? I used to remember seeing a lot of these restaurants, but not so much anymore. But hey, it can take forever for some chains to completely disappear! Vis a vis the last surviving Blockbuster store in Bend, OR, the last Hot ‘n Now in Sturgis, MI and the last Arthur Treacher’s Fish and Chips in Cuyahoga Falls, OH! I did not confirm whether or not all of these places are still open before I typed all of this, so apologies if you drive all the way to Bend, OR and find the last Blockbuster to be shuttered! And there are plenty of other places to get your fish and chips, so you don’t have to drive all the way to Ohio to get your fried foods fix! Unless you already live in Ohio! I digress…

2 US History – Name one of the two cities that served as the capital of the Confederate States of America for the longest period of time.

NERD POINT: Name both. Got one, not both.

3 TV Dancers – What dance troupe featured on the 1990s sketch comedy series In Living Color counted Carrie Ann Inaba and Jennifer Lopez among its members?

4 #1 Hits – In what year did the Four Seasons reach #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for the last time? This took place 13 years after the year referenced in the #1 song’s title.

 Mystery Round One

Name the person who is the oldest among the three individuals in each group.

1. Emmy-Winning Actors—Jim Parsons, Peter Dinklage, or Henry Winkler

2. Stand-Up Comedians—Iliza Shlesinger, Chris Rock, or Bill Burr

3. 2022 MLB All-Stars—Jazz Chisholm Jr., Mike Trout, or José Altuve

4.  Daytime TV Actresses—Deidre Hall, Susan Lucci, or Melody Thomas Scott

Round Two

5 Literary Characters – What amateur detective in novels by Agatha Christie lives in the village of St. Mary Mead? Talked ourselves out of the right person.

6 Olympians – Name either of the two American athletes who, in 2021, became the first basketball players to win five Olympic gold medals. Nope…

7 Musicals -What 1964 Broadway musical is based on the life of actress, comedian, and singer Fanny Brice, with Barbra Streisand playing Brice as part of the original cast? If you remember the answer to a trivia question because of a Mad magazine parody from the 1960s, then you have a pretty old Mad magazine collection (thanks Mom)!

8 Medicine – As referenced in its name, the trademarked medical device EpiPen is used for injecting doses of what medication?

Name the 2007 film based on the main star and its tagline.

1. Will Smith—“The last man on Earth is not alone”

2. Amy Adams—“The real world and the animated world collide”

3. Seth Rogen—“A one-night stand to end all others”

4. Shia LaBeouf—“Every killer lives next door to someone”

The “Five Good Emperors” of Ancient Rome ruled consecutively from 96 CE to 180 CE, a period of time that included considerable expansion of the Roman Empire. Name one of those five emperors.

(Note: Give the name by which they are best known). Caligula was not one of the correct answers (LOL)! My husband was all over this one, we got it.

As always, Go Pods, and stay classy, Jennifer Lopez!
