I know, I know, it sounds better coming out of either Sandra Bernhard’s mouth in the movie Hudson Hawk or the singer in electronic group Snap, but…
I’ve got the power!
Our power was out for about 24 hours. What a way to end a whirlwind week! I used my new smart phone in a live trivia game Sunday (yes you read that correctly), my husband is in a race to wrap things up with his old job before seeking a new one, I had to train a new guy at work who calls women’s underwear “drawers,” and bam, a violent thunderstorm knocked out our power. Did I mention we also watched two Hal Needham movies in one night? For inquiring minds, those movies were Hooper and Smokey and the Bandit. Sure, you’re not going to get a lot of plot in any Hal Needham film, but action? Fuhgettabout it! And most likely Burt Reynolds, too?

Of course you probably already knew that Burt Reynolds did most of his own stunts in the 1972 film Deliverance! But Mr. Hal Needham never needed a stunt double, he WAS the stunt double for a variety of actors in his heyday, including Burt Reynolds. Quite a character, and I want to believe he’s a long lost Uncle!
I’ve been pretty stressed and overwhelmed the past couple of weeks, and boy would I love a stunt double of my own! Hey Ms. Stunt Woman, would you be a dear and return my empty cans at Costco and go to the Verizon store to make sure my account gets paid off and closed out? And can you handle being with my very stressed out husband for a couple of hours to give me a break?
It’s preferable to do a 300 foot jump over a canyon in a rocket car with Jan Michael Vincent at the wheel, isn’t it?
Now you can see why a Hal Needham film is a great way to escape reality for a couple of hours! That past sentence includes a description of a scene in Hooper.
If you bothered to read this pointless blog this far, I’ll have a recap of a live game to share soon! I’ll see if my stunt double wants to do it!
