U.S. president Lyndon Johnson was an owner of an amphibious car called an “Amphicar.” One of his favorite pastimes was getting into that car with someone who didn’t know it was an amphibious car – and driving down the hill into a lake on his ranch – claiming that the brakes didn’t work. Amphicars were produced only between 1960-1965, with only 3,878 of them being built.
