Fact Du Jour – September 3, 2019 – Presidents Who Served in the U.S. Civil War
William McKinley was the last U.S. president to be a veteran of the U.S. Civil War. Other U.S. presidents who were U.S. Civil War veterans were Ulysses S. Grant, James Garfield Rutherford B. Hayes, Chester Arthur and Benjamin Harrison.
Hayes was also a civil war veteran as well, and Arthur was a general but he never served in battle.
Thanks I just double checked that and updated the post. My source I consulted for this didn’t mention these two guys for some strange reason?
