The British rock band The Police was just one of many, many musical acts who visited the Lesser Antilles Caribbean island of Montserrat for purposes of…recording music – and having lots and lots of fun in the process! Sadly, Hurricane Hugo virtually destroyed Montserrat in 1989, and in 1995, a dormant volcano woke up – and finished the job.
The Police recorded their last two studio albums – Ghost in the Machine – and Synchronicity at AIR Studios. Sir George Martin (best known as being The Beatles’ producer) founded AIR Studios’ Montserrat facility.
