Trivia Plans Week of July 29, 2019

Trivia plans this week are to play Monday at Sticks and…also Thursday at Sticks! No trivia at The Owl this week, Thursday will be the better night for me to go out since I don’t work Friday.

It’s good to mix things up! Most of my team seems happy with the Monday trivia nights, and another of my players seems to be flexible about playing Wednesdays/Thursdays.

As some of you know, my most recent attempt to take a little vacation – was bust. This morning, I booked a room in a West Michigan motel in early August that is about a five minute walk from a craft brewery – and about a five minute drive from a LAKE MICHIGAN BEACH! Sigh…I get to cancel for free and we’re not paying until we get there (fingers crossed). Best part is it’s on a weeknight, so the motel is cheaper – and hopefully the beach/brewery crowds will also be lighter (those “tourists” from Chicago/Indiana are quite…numerous). We’ll be passing by quite a lot of Lion’s Den adult stores if we need any “supplies” (JK, JK)! I swear these places located right along the highway cater to the “trucker” crowds…

On the trivia front, I haven’t decided whether I’ll be open to sitting in with another team for MTL finals or not. I’m leaning toward…not doing that. What I’m NOT ruling out is the possibility of going there just to be a “spectator.” It might be kind of nice to be able to just enjoy a couple of beers, listen to questions with no pressure about answering them correctly – and enjoy a nice “country” drive to South Lyon (I don’t have to take the highway to get there). But of course that would depend upon whether I get to have the car that day, and whether or not there aren’t any “better offers” coming my way! Yes, I know that not sitting with a team means I have no shot at the prizes being offered that day, but…meh! I can do without the stress and drama and potential nastiness from other players whom I will not name here! My mom always said if you don’t have something nice to say about someone, don’t say anything at all. Actually, I don’t think she’s ever said that – but doesn’t it make it sound “nicer” when I put it that way?

Side note, on one of my “country” drives through that area before, I saw a sign at a corner store that said “horse lessons.” In my strange mind, I took the words literally to mean lessons in how to BE a horse. Send your daughter/son to take horse lessons – where they learn to wear a horse costume, gallop, whinny, and eat apples/sugar cubes from the hand. And crap anywhere they please (LOL)!
