The captain of the trivia team I’ll be joining on Saturday has done a last-minute switch in her player lineup for Saturday’s My Trivia Live semifinal games. The good news is I still have my spot – but one of her other “regulars” may have had to bail out – or agreed to step aside (I don’t know how this all shook out).
The player whom will be joining us is a very experienced one…and formerly played with another MTL team. I think the addition of this player will be a definite game changer! With a possible $4,000 top prize (instead of the $2,500 top prize previously offered in finals tournaments) on the line, I think this will give the team I’ll be playing with a chance to REALLY make some noise! I still don’t want to go into semis or the finals with too much confidence (that’s just not how I roll), but I feel a bit more confident about this lineup than the old one! I don’t think I’ll have to be doing as much “heavy lifting” (figuratively speaking). I hesitate to call myself a true trivia “ringer,” but I’m “above average.” I’m better than “Just OK?” When they recruited me to help them at their first ever finals visit last April, I helped get them to fourth place at the end of it all – just ONE spot out of prize money. Still, you’d be hard pressed to find a more excited group of players on that day!
Here’s hoping we can be the “little trivia team that could.” As in “could” make it to finals – and win some f—ing prize money. Coming so close to winning prize money last time left me feeling like a virginal boy in a Judd Apatow “coming of age” movie.
