What happens when you get a bunch of wildly creative (some of them drug addled) – English kids and plunk then down in the lovely surroundings of Switzerland’s Lake Geneva?

From left to right – Mary’s half-sister Claire, Mary, Percy Shelley and Lord Byron in the 2017 movie Mary Shelley. I want to see this movie!
Oh what a crazy bunch of kids they were! Let’s see…famed poet Lord Byron, Percy Shelley, and his 18-year-old girlfriend Mary Wollstonecraft – who would later become famous for writing one of the most famous monster books of all time – Frankenstein, Or the Modern Prometheus. Side note, Percy Shelley was married to another woman when he took off on this trip with his “mistress” Mary (they would marry later in the year after Shelley’s first wife committed suicide by drowning).
They all got together in May, 1816 at Lake Geneva and apparently – had a wild old time! Lord Byron was known for romances with men and women (even his half sister) and had a “wild man” reputation. An opium-addled Percy Shelley hallucinated that his girlfriend’s nipples were replaced with demonic eyes. During a rainy stretch, they wrote…and wrote, and wrote… This is where Frankenstein was born….
