Fact Du Jour – July 3, 2019 – Amphisbaena (Dungeons and Dragons monster)

The two-headed snake – or Amphisbaena – in D&D is based on a creature of the same name in Greek mythology. Its bite is so venomous that any successful bite kills instantly. It travels by grasping one head in the other and rolling in a hoop. This creature is so obscure that my husband – who used to play D&D – was stumped when I mentioned its name!
