If you were one of those annoying people in the early 1970s who just HAD to have the latest technological gadgets? Chances are you had a digital watch – and if you did – that watch was a “Pulsar” watch, and it was marketed by Hamilton Watch. That watch, in the spring of 1972, sold for $2100 ($13,000 in 2018 dollars).  That’s a hell of a valuable thing to take off and accidentally leave at the beach or public pool, isn’t it? Seiko acquired the Pulsar brand in 1978.
