Watching  season 2 of Stranger  Things. Hopper  is carrying  a  shovel  into a pumpkin patch. And I said aloud:

“You  really  gotta hand it to shovels.”

What’s so  great  about  shovels?

• They’re  great  for (duh) shoveling dirt and stuff.
• They can do more than one job (read on)
• They make fantastic  handheld  weapons in a pinch. The “business” end works well, so does the metal  handle.
• Once  you’ve  managed  to subdue your enemies – permanently, perhaps  – then, well, that trusty shovel has  a whole  new  job  to do! Take it out  for some fresh air!
