Today, while a wheel bearing was being replaced on our car, we decided that that anything would be preferable to sitting in the waiting room at the repair shop. We had lunch at a “pure Ypsilanti” restaurant called The Bomber, which is dedicated to the history of Ypsilanti’s involvement in making bombers at the nearby Willow Run plant during World War 2. You’ll see model airplanes hanging from the ceiling, tons of photos on the wall, and displays of military uniforms. It’s mainly a breakfast joint, but they also stay open for lunch.
After lunch, we hung out in Riverside Park. We heard what sounded like a parrot screaming its fool head off at a house on Huron, saw a blue heron, plotted about cutting the ropes of a kayak while a person was lying in it…
This photo of Riverside Park is from early May when the Huron River was high.
On our way to the shop, we stopped at Dairy Queen to freeze our brains. The small frozen drinks were $1 on their 2-5 pm “happy hour.”

This a medium size, my husband got a small.
Then, we got to see the broken wheel bearing!
