Pentwater Trip Mini Blog – Part One

This is the first in a series of blogs I’ll be posting about our weekend trip…

Got back from my weekend trip to Pentwater, MI not too long ago. We stayed at Mears State Park, which is a “beach” campground with tightly packed sites. If it’s privacy on your camp site you’re looking for – and lots of shade – you’ll need to go to another campground! If you want to be steps away from a gorgeous white sand beach on Lake Michigan and a short walk away from a cute touristy town? This is your jam!

Kitchen accommodations included a microwave and a dorm sized fridge (not pictured is a toaster, which was stashed in a cupboard). The sink was not hooked to a water line. A small space heater is pictured. The bunk you see above was a full-sized mattress (I know this because the full-sized fitted sheet I brought fit perfectly on this mattress).

The bunk on the other side appeared to be a king-sized bed. I was a bit too tall to be able to comfortably sleep in any way but with my feet side on the dinette cushions, though two adults six foot tall or shorter might fit the “other” way. We piled up all four of those dinette cushions on the bench so that my feet wouldn’t dangle off the bed! Sometimes you have to use “MacGyver” skills when you’re camping and adapt to your environment…
