Mid-Season Rules – Sporcle Live

It’s still unclear whether I’ll be able to actually summon a team for the end of season Sporcle Live semifinals and state championship in June. One of my key players (and a player whom is always enthusiastic about tournaments) may be unavailable. This doesn’t mean I won’t pursue SOME means of getting in! Just like our cephalopod trivia team mascots…we go where we fit! Behold an octopus squeezing into something constricting:

I just reviewed the “Frequently Asked Questions” on the Sporcle Live web site regarding venues that start offering trivia mid-season. And this is what the trivia gods have to say about this:

Q: What happens if a show starts up mid-season?

A: The team that is in first at the end of the season is crowned that venue’s champion, however they must have competed at least eight times at any show in order to RSVP for a semifinal or state championship.

A couple of new Sporcle Live shows have opened up locally recently, or will open up soon. So players who play these shows (and have also played at other shows) may find another way to be able to RSVP for “The Big Dance” – even if they do not manage to finish as venue leader. What do I have to say about all of this?
