I Need a Vacation!

Feeling  very “spent” right  now. I’m  pretty  sore from Wednesday’s  house  cleaning/dust bunny killing frenzy and my normal  “work” activities  required in my job today. I’m  doing some “couch surfing” right now, trying  to regain hit points. Trivia game tonight at Sticks, will have recap posted in the morning. I have three blogs scheduled to post over the weekend, two are “reruns,” the other is a before and after trivia quiz.

You all have no idea how much I really need this little weekend  trip! Haven’t  taken  a “trip”  since October, 2018.  The rain is supposed  to  clear  out  Friday  morning, and not  return  until Sunday, when we’ll  be clearing  out. Glad it’s  not  a  tent camping trip   (never fun to pack up  a wet tent). I’ll take lots of pics and post a blog  when I get back!

Speaking of tents, we’ll be tent camping memorial  weekend  in the upper  reaches  of Michigan’s  “U.P.” A friend will be lending us a propane heater, so we won’t  freeze our asses off! Even in late May, freezing  night  temperatures  in the U.P. not impossible.

Haven’t  set foot in the U.P. since August, 2016 when we took a day trip to Sault Ste. Marie while on a tent camping trip in Cheboygan  State Park. My trivia  team failed to  make it out of the MTL semis the previous weekend, so we took the trip on the weekend of finals (since  we  didn’t  have to play finals). We had dinner at a Chinese  buffet, where I used  the WiFi  to see the final  question from that tournament  a friend had sent  in Messenger. Don’t  recall  the question, but the answer was “Web TV.” Good lord (deep cut)!

This wouldn’t be the first  time we would be in Cheboygan  State  Park while a MTL tournament  was happening! We did it again  in May, 2018 and rented a lovely rustic cabin right on Lake Michigan during the finals. We had that trip planned months  before we knew finals were scheduled that day, so let’s  just say we weren’t  terribly disappointed  that we didn’t  qualify  for those finals! Rescheduling  that trip  would NOT have been possible. Those cabins in that park book up well in advance (for good reason)!

We want to revisit  Cheboygan  State  Park  this summer and rent their tipi. Who  wants to pass the peace  pipe with us? JK – no smoking  allowed in buldings/structures  rented  by the MI DNR! Not ruling out wearing war paint and possibly watching a movie with Graham Greene in it… Maverick?

There  aren’t  a lot of things more important  to me than trivia. But having a cabin on a lake in a spot virtually to yourselves – beat out sitting in a crowded bar and answering  trivia questions – hands down!
