Yes, I know baby swans are technically called “cygnets,” but I like to call them “swanlets.” You all will have to wait for me to have pictures of “swanlets” to share here (the Internets say about six weeks)! For now, behold this future mama swan in Ford Lake at Ypsilanti, MI’s North Bay Park:

My husband said swans were “boring” because they just float around in the water. I said, “They must get freaky every now and then because I saw one on a nest.”
Speaking of boring, we also decided mallard ducks were too “boring” to bother photographing. Then as if to prove us wrong…and offer a priceless caption opportunity, this happened:

It’s important to (drum roll) keep your ducks in a row! And not far from these ducks was a waterlogged mammal:

We were really hoping to see a groundhog in the nearby golf course, but alas…we’ll settle for yet another muskrat sighting!
