Bunnies are NOT the easiest creatures to photograph. Since they know how delicious they are, they are easily startled. These two were actually starting to do the little “hopping” ritual involving hopping over other bunnies’ bodies, which is part of the Eastern Cottontail mating ritual (which we have seen occurring behind our house before). EVERYTHING bunnies do is cute, even their mating rituals! When they were just starting to get all hot and bothered, wouldn’t you know it, a couple of hawks flying overhead temporarily scared them off. I can only hope that they got all hot ‘n furry when they retreated into the forest. These shots were taken after they came back out of the woods.
