As some of you know, I took a little “spill” last Sunday and rolled my ankle, which has temporarily sidelined me from my regular walks, which are part of my New Year’s resolutions to improve my health.
I HAD planned to go for at least a short walk today, but rainy weather stymied those plans. Alas, I’m taking the opportunity to let my beleaguered (and previously injured) ankle a chance to recuperate a bit more before working two more “on my feet” shifts at work this week. I’ll be going out (weather permitting) for a walk…very soon! The ankle is feeling much, much better – thankfully the injury was very mild (this time)! I sprained it so badly in 2000 during a soccer game that I was hobbling around for almost three weeks (a co-worker jokingly called me “Hopalong”).
I may not be happy with how everything is going in my life right now (really…who IS), but I am happy that I’m taking literal “steps” to improve my health, happy I ditched a bad habit I shouldn’t have picked up in the first place cold turkey without even having tried to do it and recently, the whole “get more sleep” goal has become a big priority. Getting more sleep has definitely made me more “functional” at the very least! I’m waking up more refreshed, and it’s taking less effort to drag my sorry ass out of bed for work (you gotta appreciate the little things). I’m also not needing to take as many afternoon naps. This means I’m also trying to do fewer “late” nights at the bar (only doing those when I don’t have to work the next day). I have no plans to give up trivial pursuits anytime soon, though though the trivia nights are certainly a lot less frequent than they used to be.
Now to slay a few MORE goals to improve myself! Write the “Great Northern Adventures of Mullett Burt” stories, get a better job, run for president, adopt some Namibian orphans (JK)!
You can read more about “Mullett Burt” in this silly blog I posted…
