Billy Joel, Donna Summer and Trent Reznor Walked Into a mp3 Player…(Today’s Walk Highlights – Feb. 10, 2019)

I decided to take an “afternoon constitutional” today while my husband was playing some board games at a local bar. Weather conditions were overcast, and the local church thermometer told me the temperature was 24 degrees. I’m guessing based on the slight wind chill, that would put the “net” temperature at about…19 degrees? Ah, close enough!

I completed a 3.4 mile walk in about an hour, just walking the streets in my hood. Note this DOES NOT MAKE ME A STREETWALKER! However…if I WERE a streetwalker, per the Dungeons & Dragons “Harlot Chart,” here’s how it would go down if you encountered me in your adventures (get out your dodecahedron, aka your “d12”):

Roll 1d12 after f–king the Typical Streetwalker: if you rolled a 1-2, you have chlamydia; 3-4, you have gonorrhea; 5-12, you’re safe.

Since I have made it clear that I’m not a streetwalker – and was NOT walking the streets of Ypsilanti for money – let’s move on, shall we? If anyone tried to f— with me while I was out for one of my walks, they would have to roll to see how well they survived my kicking of their ass!Β  πŸ™‚

What tunes did my mp3 player randomly pick for today’s walk? Well, nothing recorded past the mid 1990s! Not really a huge surprise!

Today’s Walking “Playlist”

Mick Jones (shirtless, second from right) is probably the best known member of the British band Big Audio Dynamite II (BAD), and was one of the founding members of the The Clash as well as its lead guitarist. They had two #1 songs on the U.S. modern rock charts – Just Play Music (1988) and Rush (1991). The Globe, from the album of the same name, hit #3 on the modern rock charts in 1991. I saw this band as well as a a few others perform live at the Fox Theater in downtown Detroit in 1992. Since that time, I’ve met quite a few folks who said they were also at that same show (besides my brother, whom drove me to this concert, LOL)! Despite the differences I’ve had with my brother in my lifetime, we did share similar tastes in music – which means we went to quite a few concerts together.
  1. Allentown, Billy Joel
  2. Don’t You Want Me, The Human League
  3. The Globe, Big Audio Dynamite II
  4. Shellshock, New Order
  5. Hot Stuff, Donna Summer
  6. All Apologies, Nirvana
  7. Disco Inferno, The Trammps (this is a long track, so it’s essentially like two songs)
  8. Wish, nine inch nails (this one contains the lyrics “fist fuck”)
  9. Bitterblue, Cat Stevens
  10. Heart of Glass, Blondie
