Today, I’m Letting “The Wookiee” Win (AKA “Jayden” the Snowstorm)

A snowstorm named “Jayden” is paying a visit to Southeast MI today, and he’s having  – or is it a she (does it matter in this day and age) – a vicious temper tantrum. As of this blog’s posting, the forecast was for us to get 3 to 5 inches of snow. A good number of schools are closed today – I had to work this morning, but Jayden’s wrath was starting up around when I had to drive home from work, though I didn’t have to brush any snow off the car (whew)! Below is a shot from my commute home…

Remember that scene in Star Wars where C-3P0 and Chewbacca are playing the weird chess game only with holographic monsters aboard the Millennium Falcon?

Han: Let him have it. It’s not wise to upset a Wookiee.
C-3PO: But sir. Nobody worries about upsetting a droid.
Han: That’s cause a droid don’t pull people’s arms out of their sockets when they lose. Wookiees are known to do that.
C-3PO: I see your point, sir. I suggest a new strategy, R2. Let the Wookiee win.

In today’s case? The snowstorm, aka “Jayden” is the Wookiee! I’m letting him (or her) win! Have your fun, Jayden. Teachers will love you because you caused a “snow day.” Students will love you because they don’t have to go to school. People who have to drive, shovel snow, use a snowblower or work outside might not love you too much today, Jayden!

Because I decided to “let the Wookiee win,” as it were? I took today’s walk in a local shopping mall after work. I did three laps, which is equivalent to about three miles, and it took 45 minutes (meaning a 4-mile-per hour pace). I thought it would be wise to take an extra long walk today since who knows if I’ll be able to get outside to walk on Tuesday in the aftermath of “Jayden?” No way I want to walk out in this sh– today, unless it’s to take a short walk for a booze run!
